With this process, known as CCV, Scottson & Michaels can receive order information from a merchant, and through an extensively developed process, verify that the order placed is both authorized and not fraudulent in nature.

We have compiled an extensive database of known fraudulent and unauthorized users of credit cards. This allows us to apply a historical perspective to any verification we do, looking for repeat frauds or unauthorized users of credit cards.

Clients of Scottson & Michaels send their order information through a variety of means. Some fax each order to us for verification. Others batch orders and electronically transmit files either through e-mail, BBS, or Remote Access Services. We are currently working with one client towards the development of a real time order processing service to allow Scottson and Michaels to immediately begin our verification process.

At Scottson & Michaels, our goal is to work as a team with your order entry, credit, and shipping departments to develop a seamless and integrated verification system. Most of our clients continue to process an order and our verification arrives prior to shipment. Some of our clients, who have experienced large amounts of fraudulent chargebacks, hold all orders until approval from Scottson and Michaels is received.

It is important to note that our service is here to provide information. We make a recommendation whether to pass or fail an order based on our process and comparison to our fraud database. Our turnaround time is usually 38 minutes to 4 business hours. Sometimes, however, an order may take longer to process. We make every effort to provide verification to the merchant within 24 hours.

Once the verification is received, a written copy of the order is returned to the merchant reflecting our recommendation to pass or fail the order. Of course, this can be delivered to the merchant in a variety of formats, both manual or electronic.
